Join us October 27th from 10 AM to 6 PM
Ogden, UT (October 12th, 2018) — The Habitat Ogden ReStore has been operating since 2016. They are celebrating their 2nd Anniversary on October 27th from 10 AM to 6 PM. There will be fun all day with different activities. There will be snacks and games from 12 PM to 2 PM. The first 25 people to walk through the doors that morning will receive a prize, generously donated by the local affiliate (HFHWD), CrewTracks, and HomeTown Values Magazine.
The Ogden ReStore is independently-owned and operated by nonprofit Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties (HFHWD). It is their home improvement thrift store and donation center located at 3111 Wall Avenue Ogden UT 84401. HFHWD and its ReStore strives to create “a world where everyone has a decent place to live”.
The Ogden ReStore is a nonprofit where anyone in the community can donate, shop, and volunteer. They have a donation center on the South side of the building where community members can donate items from lumber, building materials, furniture, lighting, plumbing, and so much more. The Ogden ReStore also offers free pick-up services for those who reside in Weber and Davis Counties. Donors receive a tax-deduction receipt for all items accepted at the ReStore. The nonprofit thrift store accepts new and gently-used items that are in good and working condition. These donated new and gently-used items are sold at a fraction of the original price. Proceeds from these items go towards Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties and its home build and home repairs for families in need.
Customers and community members can purchase items at the ReStore Tuesday thru Saturday 10 AM to 6 PM. Every purchase makes a difference at this nonprofit thrift store. Currently, HFHWD and its ReStore are raising funds for the Guzman family, a single mother and her six children. To read more about their story, you can go to habitatwd.org/blog. In addition to this, they are raising funds for future Habitat partner families, the Rodriguez, the Norager, and the Hadfield-Carey family as well as home repairs needed by families in Weber and Davis Counties. The proceeds from the ReStore stay local to help low-income families.
Volunteers can help alongside the managers. Those needing community service or looking to be involved with philanthropic activities can help ReStore managers and staff with moving and reorganizing the thrift store and merchandise, cleaning the store front, helping with donation pick-ups and drop-offs, other DIY projects, and so much more. In 2017, the Habitat ReStore had over 2,400 volunteers and over 7,000 volunteer hours. Volunteers are greatly appreciated.
The ReStore has been a great contribution to the community, providing resources and materials needed by contractors, builders, DIYers, homeowners and renters, and so much more. From their grand opening to July 2018, they surpassed diverting one million pounds from the local landfills. As more and more people realize that the ReStore is in Ogden and is a place to donate home improvement items, the more good and gently-used items are diverted from the landfill. The ReStore prides itself for being eco-friendly in Weber and Davis Counties.
Habitat for Humanity of Weber and Davis Counties plans on striving for a community where everyone has a decent place to live. They provide the Ogden ReStore as a resource for those needing tools and materials, as well as having a resource to provide funds for their selected Habitat partner families. The goal in the future is to open a second ReStore in Davis, providing a secondary source and a closer resource to those living in Davis Counties.
